The Hoquy Beret is certainly not 'hoke' (these words are homonyms i.e. they are pronounced the same). In fact, Hoquys are very hip; this top-of-the-line beret is made by a 200 year-old family-owned French company in a workshop near the Pyrenees. The label reads 'Beret de Luxe, HOQUY, Impermeable, Pure Laine, Fabrique en France'. Lined and with a sweat band. I just returned (02/21/00) from a weekend in the San Francisco Bay Area where it rained most of the weekend. My Hoquy Beret served me very well--it kept me dry, feeling very fashion-wise for SF and packing away nicely in my pocket when the sun would sneak through. Colors: Black, Navy or Charcoal Gray. Sizes: Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large and Extra-Extra-Large. Hoquy's run slightly large. (State your headsize in the instructions box in the shopping cart and we will do our best to hand pick your hat.) Note: This is the same beret you may have seen for sale in the New Yorker Magazine (and other online sites) for $58. n
